FROM OUR BLOG
In case you didn’t know, Craigslist shut down its “personals” section last year due to some naïve laws that I’ll talk about later on. As such, US residents and sex workers who used the site’s personals section for casual sex and hooking are now being forced to try other alternatives. Luckily, there are many apps and hookup sites like Craigslist which offer a safe haven for those seeking casual encounters, swinging, escorts, and more. Here we list 12 free adult personals sites/apps which might just tickle your fancy!
Best Personals Alternatives & Replacements
We’re covering a lot of bases with these Craigslist alternatives, whether you’re straight, gay, curious, shy, open, or a full-on swinger. Some of these sites are designed more with romantic and friendly intentions in mind, helping to replace the innocent “strictly platonic” section of the Craigslist personals section. On the other hand, some of these services know that their users are looking for sex and they are designed around that.
I have more respect for personals sites which are upfront about the sexual nature of their service. Rather than pretending to be prudish, they embrace you with open arms and shout “we know you just wanna fuck, and that’s okay”.
Adult Friend Finder – Best Casual Encounters Site Overall
Adult Friend Finder kind of suggest that you might find romantic partners on their site, but the sultry pictures indicate that it’s mostly intended for sex. They describe their site as helping “millions of people [to] find traditional partners, swinger groups, threesomes, and a variety of other alternative partners.”
The site is very organized and categorized, which I think is really handy. For example, if you’re a couple looking for people who are interested in threesomes, there’s a whole “threesomes” section full of people who want to have a threesome! It saves you a bunch of time interviewing people about what they want to do in the bedroom. You’ve also got dating forums, live webcam models, and gay/lesbian/trans sections too.
The only thing I’d say about Adult Friend Finder is I get the impression that their target market is on the older side, perhaps in their 40s and 50s more often. The site places a very strong emphasis on swinging, which tends to lean towards middle-aged people, so that’s something to bear in mind.
Craigslist activities section – Best 100% Free Personals
Why look for a replacement for Craigslist personals elsewhere when you could just jump to another section of Craigslist? After the personals section was shut down, a lot of Craigslist users migrated over to the “activities” section to look for an “activity partner” for certain… “activities”, if you catch my drift.
I think this section is meant to be for people who are looking for a buddy to go fishing with or a friend who wants to go rock climbing with them. Now it’s become a wretched hive of scum and villainy full of people looking for casual sex! I bet the people who want fishing buddies are furious.
Sadly, there are limited features and filters to help you refine the free sex ads in the “activities” section of Craigslist, so it’s not great compared to tailor-made hookup services out there.
Doublelist – Best New Craigslist Personals Replacement
Doubelist are smart. Their Google result clearly reads: “Craigslist Personals Alternative” right after their name. This upfront approach has seen them become one of the best alternatives to Craigslist on the internet, quickly scooping up many former Craigslist fans.
The format is very similar to the old Craigslist personals section, dividing itself up into major cities in both the US and overseas, which is handy if you’re travelling. Their “Connect Now” (i.e. shag now) section has various combinations of gay, straight, single, and couple options, and they even have a similarly divided “Let’s Date” section too.
In the near future, they plan to host a sex education section on their site which advises users on how to play safe, avoid STIs, and ensure that their online casual encounters are not with a weirdo. They also plan an introducing an entertainment section soon too, which seems to be centered around Omegle-style live chats and sex webcams. Neat.
Grindr – Best Gay M4M Personals
Grindr is a gay hookup app which you use on your smartphone. It uses your phone’s location data to display a grid of guys’ images, starting with whoever is closest to you first. It’s a really interesting way to design an app, especially if you’re super horny and just want to get down and dirty with the closest and most convenient person possible.
The Grindr PR team will tell you that this app is an LGBT social network. There may be some minor truth to that, but the primary function of this app is to facilitate quick, easy, and simple gay sex between nearby guys. If you join the site and you’re relatively good looking, you’ll often be inundated with dick pics and flirty messages from people of all walks of life, some of whom purport to be straight.
Many of the profiles on Grindr will feature faceless torsos or pictures of random landscapes instead of faces, so be weary of that. Some people have to do it for professional reasons (i.e. they’re a teacher/doctor/lawyer and being on Grindr doesn’t look good for them) while others do it because they’re curious or still in the closet.
Although it’s not primarily designed for casual encounters and hookups, Locanto does feature a “Personals” section which is split into 3 subsections – long-term relationships, casual encounters, and “personals services”. I love the euphemistic nature of the term “personals services” … essentially, it’s a place for hookers and escorts to advertise, as well as erotic masseurs and masseuses.
Once you get into the “personals services” section, you are actually presented with a bunch of further subsections including “BDSM & Fetish”, “Escorts”, “Strippers”, “Erotic Photography” and more. It’s the same with the casual encounters – once you click on it, you are presented with further subsections for gay/straight/couples etc.
Big_Quote: I think Locanto don’t want to sully the main page of their website with words like “BDSM” and “Escort”, so they don’t give you further erotic options until you’re already in that part of their personals.
Reddit R4R (reddit.com/r/r4r) is a subreddit which is designed to bring 2 redditors together for “almost” anything. In case you were wondering, that includes dates and hookups. However, if you’re posting about casual sex, you should use a NSFW tag so that people looking for more innocent connections aren’t force-fed pictures of cocks and titties.
You have to be 18+ to post there, and there are some rules to follow, so be sure to read through their guidelines before posting there. R4R is good for getting a sense of whether someone who replies to your personals ad is genuine, as you can browse their reddit history and see what they’ve been up to in the past. Of course, it doesn’t prove anything specifically, but it can make you feel more confident if you have a general sense about the kind of person you’re going to be meeting.
The only downside about R4R is that your horny sex ads about casual encounters are mixed in with much more innocent posts about people wanting friends and people to play boardgames with. Personally, I’d feel the eyes of judgement of the entire subreddit, but perhaps you have less shame than I.
Tinder – Best Casual Encounters App
Tinder is basically ingrained into the international consciousness at this point. If you’re below a certain age, you can’t get away from jokes about “swiping left” and “swiping right”, referring to the unique swiping system that Tinder uses for people to judge their potential partners.
A swipe to the left means that you’re not interested in meeting someone, while a swipe to the right means that you are. If two people both swipe right for each other, Tinder informs them about this and they are then able to talk to each other if they want.
Tinder is designed to be used for dating, but many straight men and women use it as their own version of Grindr. The great thing about Tinder is that you’re only able to contact people if they also express interest in speaking to you, so you can avoid feeling like you’re nagging someone who isn’t into you.
Just make sure that your intentions are clear if you’re only looking for hookups and casual encounters – not everyone is using it as a replacement for Craigslist personals.
Tinder is now worth over $3 billion and counting, with the BBC estimating that Tinder has over 57 million worldwide users as of 2019.
OkCupid, like many of these services, is designed with dating in mind, but you could potentially use it for hookups and casual encounters too. Creating a profile on OkCupid takes quite a long time, and they want you to answers lots of questions about your lifestyle and personality, helping to match you up with people who they think you will get along with.
Because of the level of detail involved in OkCupid profiles, it’s not great for NSA anonymous hookups and stuff. However, if you’re looking for regular fuck buddies who you can chill with afterward, OkCupid is a great place to find people who you connect with on a sexual and personal level.
Ashley Madison is controversial. Very controversial. Why? Because its whole brand is based around the idea of having an affair. Their slogan is literally “Life is short. Have an affair”. They acknowledge that some users on the site may be polyamorous married couples, but the core of this Craigslist alternative is focused on connecting married people who want to cheat on their partners with single people or other married people.
My personal approach to this website is akin to the Dutch’s tolerance of hookers and soft drugs – people are going to cheat on their partners anyway, so why not allow them to do it safely? I doubt that the existence of Ashley Madison makes a partner more likely to cheat. In my opinion, if someone is going to cheat, then they’re going to find a way to do it. At least the boundaries and discretion are clear with a site like this.
So yeah, Ashley Madison is a Craigslist casual encounter alternative designed for cheaters! If you’re cool with that and it doesn’t bother you, then go for it. If you don’t like the idea of potentially breaking up a marriage (your own or someone else’s) then look elsewhere.
Fetlife is a social network designed for people who are into fetishes, kinks, and BDSM. As soon as you enter their site, they are very upfront about what their deal is:
“Like Facebook, but run by kinksters like you and me. We think it is more fun that way. Don’t you?”
There are almost 8 million Fetlife members, all of whom have their own distinct kinks and fetishes which they like to discuss and share. Fetlife members look for partners who can play with them and enjoy their mutual sexual turn-ons, no matter how taboo they might seem to the outside world.
Seeking is based around the concept of “Sugar Daddies”, “Sugar Mommas”, and “Sugar Babies”. If you’re not familiar, Sugar Daddies/Mommas are usually rich and successful businesspeople who are looking for “Sugar Babies” to buy expensive gifts for in return for company and sexual favors.
In a way, sugar babies are kind of like escorts, but they’re not being “paid” as such and they’re usually monogamous to one Sugar Daddy or Momma. This site is all about matching you up with someone who has “looks and charm” (i.e. they’re poor but good-looking) or someone who has “success and wealth” (i.e. they’ve got a lot of money and want sex).
Again, this is quite a niche site so its not as general as some Craigslist alternatives on this list, but if the idea of a “sugar” relationship turns you on, look no further.
A few years ago in the UK, Match.com had a [really irritating TV commercial] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-z4aguu4Ex0) that is still stuck in my head to this day. It was annoyingly saccharine and featured awful singing. It’s one of those adverts that everyone in the UK is familiar with. Personally, it put me off using Match.com forever, but maybe I’m just grumpy.
Nonetheless, Match.com has been going strong since 1995, giving hope to people who are looking for love. Again, you could potentially use this site for casual encounters and hookups, but Match.com’s online personals ads are designed to find you a long-term romantic partner rather than a quick blow-and-go, so bear that in mind.
Why was Craigslist Personals shut down?
We all know it’s gone, but what happened to Craigslist personals anyway? As Craigslist themselves explain, the US congress passed a bill in 2018 called “FOTSA” which stands for the “Fight Online Sex Trafficking Act”.
Basically, Craigslist and some other personals sites were hosting ads for things like child sex workers and trafficked hookers. Of course, this is not their fault personally because they are just a platform for people to use as they wish, but the US government became concerned and decided to pass a law which could land sites like Craigslist in hot water if they didn’t better regulate their personals section.
To cut a long story short, Craigslist decided it would be more effort than it’s worth to try and keep their personals section open, so they closed it to focus on running the rest of their website without chasing up bad posters every 2 minutes.
Of course, shutting this part of Craigslist down is not going to suddenly eliminate online sex trafficking, but alas the government seems to be bad at understanding how the internet works. I mean, look at the commotion around net neutrality or that awkward interview where Mark Zuckerberg explained how the internet works to Congress. God help us.
We talked about lots of different sites like Craigslist personals in this article, some of which are more geared toward casual encounters than others. Whatever platform you decide to organize your next bit of casual sex through, just remember to be safe, responsible, and use common sense when meeting strangers over the internet for sex. Have fun!
As he’s gotten closer to becoming middle-aged, I’ve noticed that my husband has become self-conscious about his ability to perform in bed. It’s a 50-50 chance whether his penis will stay hard during sex, and I could tell that he was feeling depressed after a while. It turns out that depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem are commonly found in men with ED. I didn’t want him to feel this way (and I wanted better sex!) so I encouraged him to try Bluechew after looking through the Bluechew reviews online.
Bluechew is a male enhancer supplement which is chewable – it’s a bit like eating one of those chewable vitamins, but it’s for sex. If you’ve ever wanted to chew Viagra, then you’re in luck here. Apparently, the action of chewing means that the stuff is absorbed into your system faster, so they kick in a little quicker than old-school swallowed pills. The Bluechew system is a home delivery subscription service which delivers your desired amount of chewables to your home every month. Yes, the packaging is discreet.
Bluechew comes in 2 forms – Sildenafil 30mg and Tadalafil 6mg. These are the magic ingredients that made Viagra and Cialis famous men’s sex pills, but their greedy patents have recently expired so prices have dropped and healthy competition has opened up, driving sex supplement prices down. Thank you Jesus. Bluechew is one of many new Cialis and Viagra alternatives popping up on the market, but its USP is the fact that it’s chewable.
Sildenafil is the active ingredient in Viagra. It gets to work in 60 minutes or less and gives men a stiffy for around 4 hours, whether they want it or not. For my husband, the Bluechew version of Sildenafil gave him an erection in just over 30 minutes, but it might be different for your guy.
Tadalafil is the active ingredient in Cialis. It also gets to work in around 60 minutes or less, but in a more subtle way. Like Cialis, it’s supposed to be taken on a daily basis, remaining in your system throughout the day so that you’re ready to go when the time comes. My husband says he notices that he feels more aroused when he sees/hears something sexy, but he isn’t walking around pitching a tent all day either.
My Review of Sildenafil Bluechew
I opened up the discreet envelope that these pills arrived in and I was instantly impressed by the classy and sophisticated packaging. Rather than being tacky or medical, Bluechew have gone with the high-end aesthetic that you get from top-tier sex toy companies and the likes. Each pill comes in a little black pouch, and while it is stylish, it seems like a waste of materials to be honest. I guess a strip of tablets isn’t very suave or sexy.
The pills are only about the size of a nickel, so they’re really easy to chew according to my husband. If we’re both in the mood and it’s clear that we’re in the mood for sex, he takes one of these male enhancers and we start with foreplay, which I have no complaints about! It’s great actually – I get 30-40 minutes of foreplay while his Bluechew gets working! He kisses me, strokes my pussy gently, and sometimes he sticks his tongue down there too. By the end of these 30 minutes or so, I’m wet and he’s got a cock that’s standing tall like a statue.
Then we get to fucking, and I really can’t complain ladies! His boner was stiff as a board throughout the experience, thrusting me and rubbing me in ALL the right places. The sex was even better because I had been “warmed up” by all that foreplay, so I was just as ready to go as he was! You know how impatient some men can be – they wanna skip the foreplay and get right to the dirty deed, but most ladies can’t hack that. All in all, the sildenafil Bluechew has been great for both of us!
My Review of Tadalafil Bluechew
These versions comes in similar packaging to the sildenafil, but they come in little grey pouches instead of black. My husband actually splits these in half and takes half-doses every day because he felt a little too easily aroused when taking the full 6mg dose. He says that with the half dose, he becomes aroused and gets an erection when the time is right, not too frequently. I guess it’s different for all men.
You know those times when you’re both super horny and you don’t need to fuck around with foreplay? Well these tadalafil Bluechews are great for times like that. Sometimes the mood just takes us and we have to get fucking there and then – there’s no explaining it. In times like that, we’re both gagging for it and can’t bear to wait 30-40 minutes for a Viagra to kick in, but the tadalafil mean that my husband can get a keep a decent erection and keep it for long enough to satisfy me.
I won’t lie – his cock isn’t quite as hard as when he takes the sildenafil, and he doesn’t seem to be AS confident in his abilities when he’s relying purely on the tadalafil, but if time is of the essence and you’re both horny enough to make it work, then it can bring some spontaneity back to your sex life for sure. Don’t get me wrong – the sildenafil are great male sex pills, but the “preparation” aspect of it can ruin the mood a little bit, whereas tadalafil makes the whole act seem more natural and romantic once again.
I mean, I’d rather be sayng: “Take me here, right now. Fuck me hard on the washing machine!” than “Take me in about 30 or 40 minutes while I patiently await your boner”.
Is Bluechew Legit?
As far as I can tell it is, yes. We place an order for 10 sildenafils and 7 tadalafils every month, and they always arrive on time in discreet packaging without fail. You have to take a health assessment before they let you have Bluechew, which suggests that this is real stuff. Of course, their doctor is probably a little biased in that they’re going to want to approve you for these sex pills, but it mostly seems above board. They make all the risks and potential side effects very clear, and you can consult with the specialized Bluechew physicians if you need to.
Their medical staff are actually doctor(s) (I don’t know how many there are?) from the great city of Chicago, IL. After doing some snooping, I can’t find out too easily where Bluechew themselves are based, but I’m willing to bet that it’s somewhere near Chicago? All I know is that we order these chewable sex pills and they definitely come from somewhere, whether its Chicago or Narnia.
Does Bluechew Work?
In our experience, Bluechew pills definitely work. Whenever my husband is raring to go, one of these Bluechews is usually enough to get the job done. He feels like more of a “man”, I get the best sex I’ve had in years, and we’re both just really damn pleased with the product to be honest. I mean, the only thing that’s been a downside for my husband is that sometimes he gets headaches from the pills and sometimes he gets unwanted erections.
Nonetheless, he would get these headaches and unwanted erections whether he was taking Bluechew supplements or regular Viagra and Cialis. The difference in Bluechew is the delivery method, both in terms of procuring them and taking them. They arrive in the mail and they are chewed instead of swallowed, but their ingredients are basically the same as Viagra or Cialis, depending on which one you
get. Last time I checked, Viagra and Cialis do the job… Bluechew just makes the process easier.
A Few Bluechew reviews from Reddit
I’m writing this Bluechew review from a woman’s perspective, so I thought it would be interesting to collect some real-life Bluechew reddit reviews from both men and women to see what people are saying about these pills. It seems for the most part that people are pleased, which is always a good sign!
“It doesn’t feel much different than normal other than the fact that he’s like harder and can do it more times/longer. I came pretty fast but sometimes I do regularly.”
“I tried the bluechew free trial just to see what it would do. Pretty quickly after chewing my cock swelled up like the hulk and my girlfriend & I just looked at eachother and went to town. Not gonna lie man, having your dick enraged like that totally changes the game. I wish I didn’t need the chew, but damn is it fun.”
This guy sounds happy that they exist:
“Thank you. Im 20 myself and had issues in my last relationship with my anxiety moving towards performance anxiety. Ever since its been a vicious mental cycle where i get nervous it won’t go right and then… manifest destiny. This makes me feel hopeful to have a backup plan, should really help my confidence. I might get a consultation just so I can have a few on reserve.”
Bluechew coupon code, free trial, and free samples
Bluechew has a free 30-day trial for new users, helping them to see whether this product is right for them. Personally, my husband gave the free trial a go and then we both became hooked on the stuff. When you’ve been getting dicked by a cock harder than granite for 30 days, you can’t go back to lackluster sex.
Still, if the product doesn’t work for you and you’d rather spend your time looking for snake oil and the best Chinese sex pills in dark corners of the internet, then you can cancel your subscription before the trial ends. You will still have to pay $5 for shipping if you didn’t like the free trial, but I’m sure that you’ll live. It’s hardly going to break the bank.
Bluechew Side Effects
The Sildenafil 30mg pills can give you redness, headaches, nausea, back pain, congestion, muscle aches, blurred vision, dizziness, bad stomach, hot flashes, diarrhea and in rare cases memory/hearing issues.
The Tadalafil 6mg pills can give you lightheadedness, coughing, abdominal pain, muscle aches, flushing, indigestion, low blood pressure, sore throat, sickliness, and longlasting erections.
Apart from minor headaches and fatigue (the fatigue is probably due to all of the… physical activity) my husband didn’t experience any of these side effects of tadalafil and sildenafil Bluechews.
Is Bluechew Safe?
Sildenafil and Tadalafil have been used in products like Viagra for many years now, with various studies showing that the ingredients in supplements like Bluechew are safe. Of course, you should always follow the dosage instructions and note your physician’s advice if they think that you should not be taking Bluechew.
Bluechew packages and pricing
The more of these Bluechews you get each month, the cheaper it works out to be. Although it’s tempting to get “Pro” plans for each of these pills and bonk till the cows come home every night, I’d advise you to be realistic about how often you’re ACTUALLY going to be having sex with one another. We do it 2-3 times a week on average, and he splits his tadalafil into 2 halves, so we find that 7 tadalafil and 10 sildenafil per month is about right for us.
“Active” plan – 6 x Sildenafil Chewables per month ($20)
“Busy” plan – 10 x Sildenafil Chewables per month ($30)
“Popular” plan – 17 x Sildenafil Chewables per month ($50)
“Pro” plan – 34 x Sildenafil Chewables per month ($90)
“Active” plan – 4 x Tadalafil Chewables per month ($20)
“Busy” plan – 7 x Tadalafil Chewables per month ($30)
“Popular” plan – 14 x Tadalafil Chewables per month ($50)
“Pro” plan – 28 x Tadalafil Chewables per month ($90)
States where it’s not allowed
You cannot purchase Bluechew in the following states due to dumb telemedicine laws:
Arkansas, Delaware, Hawaii, Idaho, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, and South Carolina.
To be clear, the formula of the pills is not banned – just the way in which they’re distributed.
It is an undeniable fact that the world has developed in a lot of things. The human race has come a long way, and we are doing some miraculous things. But at the same time, it is a bitter truth that we are lagging behind in a lot of things. We are intelligent enough to send a man to space and dumb enough to mistreat people because of certain reasons.
In many parts of the world, the particular groups of people who are mistreated are the sex workers. It is still seen as a taboo in most parts of the world, and they are not being accepted as a part of society. In this article, we will see the problems faced by sex workers.
The most common problem that most of the sex workers face is discrimination. Any kind of discrimination is something that cannot be accepted. There are a lot of organizations in the world that are raising the voice against many kinds of discrimination, but there are really not many organizations or people who are taking a stand against the sex workers discrimination.
Even though sex workers take all the necessary measures to keep them away from all kinds of STD, there are some possibilities that they might get affected by it. If the disease is a simple one, it is fine because there are medications and treatments available for it. But if it is a major disease, they will have bigger issues. More than the disease it is the misconception that the general population that affects the most. Most of the people think that they are active carriers of STDs.
Sex work is not a work that can generate a steady income. There will be some time where they will make a decent amount of money, but there will also be times where they will have return home empty-handed. We are talking about these expensive escorts who make thousands of dollars for just a night. The financial position of most sex workers is still a huge question mark, and they are finding it very difficult to meet their basic needs.
Sex work is not legal in most of the countries. There are only very few countries that have legalized prostitution. Hence sex workers in countries where it is not legal will be facing a lot of issues from cops and from the government. They might get arrested, and they would have to pay some fine for breaking the law. In many countries, the law against sex workers is one of the greatest problems that they are facing.
Sex work and sex workers are two of the debated topics. The stance of the people varies according to the perspectives. There are no second thoughts on the fact that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and people have a different understanding of sex work. In this article, we will see in detail the understanding of sex work in an open society.
Why sex workers and not prostitutes?
Why people get into sex work?
This is one of the first questions that need to be answered. It is so important because people have weird and baseless definitions of why people get into this work. The unknown truth why people actually provide sexual services is to earn their livelihood, and they got into this because, for most of them, the situation demanded and pushed them to do it. They are very few people who get into this work willingly. Even if there are various other options to work, there is no other work that will generate this much income. The work is also flexible, and hence, some prefer to get into it.
Why is it not a crime?
If a question against it needs to be raised, it would be why it should be a crime? People can keep arguing whether it is moral or immoral. The debate will keep going on and on, and there will be no end to it. It is because it is all about the opinions that people have, and people have different ways of approaching things. If you put a little bit of thought into it, you will understand that it might be against the morals of some set of people, but it is not a criminal act. It is not affecting any person in any way. Hence there is no way that sex work can be classified as a criminal act.
What is wrong with the laws?
The law against sex workers and their clients criminalize and punishes both. At the end of the day, it is a service that is being offered by certain people, and it is being bought by certain clients. The entire process is more like any other business. So it is very evident that the laws in the countries that have banned or criminalized sex work are totally wrong. It affects the lives of people and has a lot of negative impacts on various aspects.
The way that technology has impacted our lives is very evident. A lot of things have become easier. Most of the things that we want we are getting it done with just a few clicks on our smartphones. We have reached a point where we will definitely find it very difficult to survive without technology.
A lot of things have changed. Even the businesses which are considered taboo and unethical are flourishing a lot because of technology. In this article, we will see how technology is changing the face of sex workers.
Better business and customers
Before the penetration and reach of technology, the availability of sex workers was very much confined to the places that are referred to as red light districts or red light areas. If people want to hire the services of the sex workers, they will have to go that particular place to get it. In very instances, sex workers will be available in other places. But that is not the situation. There are lots of websites which has a list of prostitutes. It has become more like online shopping. The sex workers are getting better business because of the wider reach because of technology.
We are not denying the fact that sex workers are still assaulted physically and sexually. But at the same time, it has decreased drastically. If the sex workers are is any kind of trouble, they can easily communicate and inform that they have some kind of issue. Since people are also aware of this, they are not indulging in any kind of activities that will affect them. The sex workers are able to take all the preventative measures to ensure their safety. For example, if they are going for an unknown place for an outcall, they can easily turn on their location tracker in the mobiles, which will clearly show their location to the people that they want.
Payment has always been one of the biggest issues when it comes to sex work and sex workers. Some of them, especially the new ones, easily get cheated as the customers refuse to pay the necessary amount. Some might say that they do not have the cash to pay. We all know that no excuse can be given in today’s situations. Thanks to the technology advancements any kind of payment can be made with your mobiles. Most of the prostitution sites have, and they will only provide the services if the client pays the initial advance to them.
Diversification of business
There good possibilities that what diversification is all about. There was a time when sex workers offered only sexually services. But the technological advancements have opened up new ways for sex workers to offer other services. The most common thing is doing webcam sessions. They are able to do different kinds of things and make money about it.
It is said that prostitution is considered to be one of the oldest jobs in the world. Sex workers are there all over the world. Let us not get into the argument of what they are doing is right or wrong. It is all about perspectives. The liberals might not consider it as a bad thing, but the ideologies of the conservatives will be totally contradicted with them. At the end of the day, they are human beings, and they have all the rights like the rest of us. The rights of the citizen cannot be denied based on the job that they do. In this article, we will see in detail about the rights of sex workers.
Discrimination of sex workers
The world that we live in is so advanced in a lot of things, and we are that the verge of colonizing Mars. Even at this age, there is a lot of discrimination that sex workers are undergoing on a daily basis. Most of the people have wrong perceptions about them and discriminate them without any kind of hesitation. Because of the kind of work that they do, they are taken for granted. They undergo ill-treatment, sexual and physical assault, and a lot of other tortures by various people.
The fact that the entire society is looking at them with the wrong mindset itself is an unbearable thing. They are constantly judged and humiliated at various levels. It is an undeniable fact that they not even given the basic respect that human should get.
The society’s perceptions
We do accept the fact that the work that they are doing is a taboo in many parts of the world. But one of the most common assumptions that people have is that they got into willingly which is totally wrong. There are lots of sex workers who are kidnapped and trafficked to do this work. The most pathetic thing is that some of them have been sold by their own parent at a very tender age and they got into this when they didn’t even understand the meaning of sex. Some might have come into this because of the financial situations and a lot of other issues. The majority of sex workers are not doing it willingly.
There are a lot of counties where sex work (prostitution is legalized). There are lots of countries that are still debating it. But anything said and done it is not an easy thing. It is because the legalization will lead to a lot of crimes like child trafficking, child prostitution and a lot of other issues. If it is being legalized, it should have a proper, and the offenders should be punished irrespective of their status. Some of the countries like Germany, Netherlands and Austria have pulled off the legalization with perfection.
It does not matter what they are doing for survival. It is not causing any harm to others, and they are not indulging in criminal activities. They are humans, and they are the citizens of the country. They have all rights like the rest of the people. Denying has become very common, and it is something that needs to change. It is the governments that need to take necessary steps and pass bills that will protect their rights no matter what.
AIDS Healthcare Foundation’s (AHF) leader Weinstein got the “California Safer Sex in the Adult Film Industry Act” on the 2016 ballot and, knowing nothing about the industry except stigma and prejudice, voters will likely go for it. This is pretty major and scary, as it will drive independent porn performers/producers out of business and subject performers to privacy violations and abuse.
But you don’t hold prejudice and stigma against sex workers, right?? Then if you’re the type of person who votes (and is allowed to vote!) in California these are the reasons why you should VOTE NO on Proposition 60.
1) Mandate the use of condoms in all porn produced in California. Violations will subject producers to fines, which range from $10,000 to $30,000.
Impact: Institutionalizes the notion that porn performers and sex workers are vessels of disease that must be specially regulated. This ballot measure is the fourth attempt of mandating condoms in porn despite disavow by porn performers and producers.
2) Require all porn producers to save and send a ton of private information about performers including legal name, contact information, and HIV and STI medical evaluations to a newly created state agency under (presumably) Weinstein’s control. Producers must also send a fee of $100 per SCENE. Failure will result in fines from $5,000 to $15,000.
Impact: There are two major issues with this provision. First, as most porn producers are independent performers creating content in their own homes this will cause tremendous economic disincentive to working independently, driving them out of business. For independent performer/producers there is no guarantee of monetary return on creating any scene, so $100/scene will start them at a loss with the likelihood of not earning much more. Independent producers/performers tend to earn profits by volume, which means they need to produce many scenes in order to accrue a return.
If independent performer/producers are driven out of California, what then? The only porn producers that will be financially able to operate will be big, mainstream studios. That means the only porn performers that will find work are those that fit into mainstream ideals of gender, race, body size and type, etc., who will have little power in combating big businesses that often use racist, classist, and transphobic marketing tactics.
While admiring photos of fierce sex worker babes in our Twitter feed I did a little risk assessment. Saving 10 photos linked through social media by sex workers on their personal websites at random I found through a few simple clicks that 80% of sex workers incidentally share tiny bits of private information about themselves to their thousands of public followers in metadata.
Hidden in digital photos and video of birthday wish list thank you shout outs, incall selfies, relaxed bathtub soaks, hotel parties, and vacation views by porn performers, escorts, dominatrixs, and strippers lay your exact coordinates of where the photo was taken (this is called geotagging.) For people vulnerable to police harassment, vindictive ex-partners, stalkers, political doxxers and other abusers, preventing this private information from going public is paramount to safety
In an effort to reduce sex worker’s risk of abuse by predatory groups and individuals, I put together a quick guide on how to turn off geotagging on smart phones and a list of apps that allow you to remove geotagged info from existing photos and video.
How to Disable Geotagging on iPhone:
1. Go to settings.
2. Go to privacy.
3. Go to location services.
4. Go to camera. (The same should be done for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and all other vulnerable apps.)
5. Click “Never.”
